For me, fiction is a get-away. An awesome way to imagine those 'it could happen' scenarios. My favorites are the stories who work from real events and time period, but use fictional stories. (Try Diana Gabaldon, the Outlander series, if you're looking for a great read and a possible fictional conversion.) :)

Jane Austen is always great, too.

Maybe it's just because I live in Charleston and her books take place here and I recognize place names and such, but Dorothea Benton Frank's books are my favorite! I just got one from the library yesterday afternoon and I've already finished it. Try to read them in the order she wrote them, because characters will pop up in other books later on.

@Brandon: I did read "the saga" but those were my first fiction readings since it was required in high school (sad but true). I did enjoy them though.

Just finished, "The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters, Volume 1" the second comes out today actually so I will be reading that presently. Lately my fiction authors have included, Emily Bronte, Stephanie Clarke, John Irving, Gordon Dahlquist, and Stephanie Meyers.
