You should wish her a happy day,
1/14/2009
My sister, my opposite, my favorite, my friend.
I wish a year full of new beginnings and appropriate ends.
Of love and growth. And laughter and grins.
Stability and excitement. Worship and hymns.
I pray a home full of health.
A Fridge full of Food.
Marriage full of joy.
And continual funds for you.
Sister, so lovely, so honest, so true
May it be a year full of blessing, A year that's brand new!
Happy Birthday Big Sis!
I know I should work for hallmark...HA!

Hello Big Papa
1/13/2009Upon playing with Titus' new Christmas toys he discovered that Mr. Potato Head had a strange resemblance to my dad (Big Papa).
Since Big Papa was in San Jose. Titus' referred to this potato as "big papa"

He talked with him in his little tent

and he gave him kisses

eventually he admitted that it was just not the same.

And I'm not just saying that because she's my friend. If you haven't heard me brag about Holly well consider this your chance. She's one of those people you meet and you know they're destined for greatness. Her great contribution may or may not come from photography but I'll tell you what...
Holly + Camera Lens = Brilliance
She just posted our family photo's here. Please feel free to check them out.

Dear Cousin
3/07/2008
Below is a message to my dear cousin whom I have unintentionally ignored. I hope she gets it.
Dear Cousin,
My husband only recently informed me that you called on my sons birthday...sorry.
I was sick so all messages were retrieved by him.
My cell phone was chucked out the window of my car somewhere on the highway between fresno and LA. That was my only access to your numbers.
I hope all is well. I am no longer ill and I hope you get bored enough to check this site soon.
please call again.
Hugs,
K

When I Die
9/21/2007
Have you thought about your funeral? Today I went to a funeral and I started thinking about my own death. I know to some it's morbid or disturbing to talk about death but in reality it's natural and inevitable (for most). If anything concerning death freaks you out then I advise you to stop reading. We as a society tend to do everything we can to prolong death, I on the other hand have decided to take an evening and embrace it. So I decided a few things today:
1. I need a living will. If you don't have one you should. If you think you don't need one, your wrong.
2. If I'm over 70 yrs. of age I do not want all heroics taken to save me. I will be a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate).
3. If machines will have to keep me alive or if I am brain dead please let me go! I don't want to hang out in a hospital for ten years while others pray for a miraculous intervention (not to bash those that are praying for others right now I just don't want that myself). I would rather go hang out with THE Father.
4. At my funeral I don't want people to pretend like I was great and wonderful and perfect (I'm not...shocking I know). I want a Eulogy that is real and honest. I want a ceremony that seizes the moment to reflect on the magnificence of God in life AND death.
5. I don't want a grave site.
6. I don't want a "celebration of life" ceremony. I say show up at beach, bring some bottles of wine (grigio, please), say something true, toast, and scatter my ashes (dust to dust and ashes to ashes). Heck, bust out a guitar and play some Harper.
So there you have it. I've spent some time pondering my death and that's what I've processed so far...If anything changes I'll let you know. Hmm...Maybe a pinot nior?

Football Widow
9/09/2007
I am a football season widow. I'm sure you've heard of us...we're the spouses that lose our significant others during the months of September thru January. When I say lose I mean lose. If it's Sunday or Monday I know where and what my husband will be doing. David's team is da Bears and some of you know last year was a big year for them...though disappointing in the end. Which only perpetuated the dedication. Dave's been a fan for over 20 years (wow when I say that I feel like an adult) but I had NO idea what I was getting myself into even though we dated for 4.5 years prior to marriage. I suppose it's because we didn't share a T.V.. Last year as the
Superbowl approached David was shopping for a "Superbowl outfit" for Titus (he wasn't even out of the womb). Needless to say, at this point I'm not fighting it and I've found a healthy compromise. We now own 2 televisions. I just wish I could understand the appeal. The only time I enjoyed watching football was when David played in college, but I think I just enjoyed watching Dave. So help me...why is football worth watching?

Party On
9/07/2007
There is something very special that happens once a year in August. It's the Mendoza Family Reunion. I know most of you are saying "Your not Mexican!!!" ahh but I am and I have proof. Our reunions are filled with beer, food, music, dancing, beer, food, beer...okay you get my drift. And NO I didn't dance. I save my dancing shoes for occasions where no one knows me : ) This reunion was particularly special because my brothers where there. Yup I have siblings. 4 to be exact. My 2 older brothers and my sister and I where at the same place, at the same time for the first time in about 22 years. It was nice. I
must admit Mendoza reunions are awesome. It's never anywhere like Hawaii or Tahoe (hello we're Mexican) we party down by the river. We don't need a DJ because we have a cousin Renee that does all the music and singing (and he does it well) but no one really cares because he doesn't start till 9pm and by then well we've enjoyed p
lenty of food and beer and beer and food. You get my drift. I must admit I enjoy my family and I'm so glad that my son gets an opportunity to experience the Mendoza reunion. I just pity those who aren't Mendoza's or married to one when August rolls around : )

Art Hop
7/08/2007
The first Thursday of every month a very cool event takes place in Fresno. I know...I know I said Fresno and cool in the same sentence. For all you Fresno critics out there (myself included) I have to admit there are some great things that go on in this lil' ole' town. You see a few years back some folks decided to support local artist and so began the Art Hop. I am particularly a fan since this month my brother (in-law) showcased
some of his own work. the Art Hop takes place all over town at various venues, from about 5pm to 9pm though typically it goes longer thanks to Full Circle Brewery. Most of the artist showcase their work (passion, art, livelyhood, etc.) downtown or there abouts, but there are also venues in N.E. Fresno for those of you who fear anything south of Herndon (I kid not). On one last note...its FREE.
