Best Worst Movie Ever...
12/03/2008
We all have them. Movies we wish we'd never seen. I have a list of the worst movies ever. To be honest I'm glad I've seen some of them because they are so terrible I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. some of mine include;
5. The thin red line (literally fell asleep in the theater)
4. Howard the duck (I lack the words...)
3. Cut throat island (Are you kidding me?)
2. A gnome named gnorm (There were a lot of things in the 80's that I felt were crack induced this one tops the list)
1. Sleepwalkers

I did not watch Sleepwalkers alone. WutheringIris and I went through a stage when we were about 16(ish) where we spent most of our free time watching horror films during summer afternoons and concluding we could have created a much more unpredictable screenplay. The only thing I could use to rationalize this movie was that Stephen King had nothing to do with the development of the film...but he did. I couldn't stop laughing while we watched and if you've ever seen my "uncontrollable laughter" in person you can imagine what the next 90min or so looked like.
(I have not included any sequels or trilogies since that only would have quadrupled the list. I also skipped out on decades prior to my birth b/c...well...there's only so much time in a day.)
So dish...What's the worst film you've ever seen? And why? Now's the time to clear your conscious.

Left Behind
9/12/2008
okay I'm still cracking up as I type. I remember growing up with these books in my home. You know, during the "raptures tomorrow" phase in Christian society. Yes, these books were the foundation to my insecurity as a child/pre-teen. I was certain I had be "left behind" when I came home and my parents were not there or if I couldn't find them immediately. Oh, thanks LaHaye and Jenkins.
Anyhoo, I found out they were releasing a "left behind" game (I kid not). Below is a direct quote from the FAQ page;
"What is the level of violence in the game?
Our game includes violence, but excludes blood, decapitation, killing of police officers, etc. Our game is expected to be widely accepted by the mainstream and Christian marketplaces, just as they have accepted Star Wars games which are “T” for teen rated. We have taken great care to make certain that consequences for poor gamer behavior will adequately reflect the gamers actions. Accordingly, unnecessary killing will result in lower Spirit points."
Thoughts? Would you buy the game? Do you wish you thought of it?

I raved a few weeks ago about my affinity toward Mr. Bateman. Well since the new arrival joined us we have been a bit more withdrawn and much more stuck on the couch. So a good friend brought by Arrested Development and said "this is a must" and she was right. Both of us were addicted. we laughed and then laughed some more. there are few shows in life that one can watch and go "what the heck just happened"?
The series is over which is sad and boo on us for not keeping it around while shows like according to jim begin their 8th season. But there is an up side. All three seasons can be viewed consecutively and commercial free. And I hear there's talk of a movie (internal excitement welling up).

I do feel at this point a warning is necessary. If you feel that "friends" was too risque then this is not a show for you. You will not like this show. You should not rent this series. But when you get over that or when curiosity takes over....go laugh your head off!
I mean seriously, how do you beat a show whose narrator is Ron Howard? huh?

Martha Who?

So if I've never mentioned it before I'm NOT crafty. Nope. Not at all. I find my expression through other venues but Popsicle sticks and glue are not my friends. Something I want to learn and am slightly ashamed to admit is I can't sew. nope not even a hem. So I often secretly covet my friends and family who are crafty. Not those crazy crafty people who have dry flowers in reefs and hand sewn kitty cat cardigans but those who can fix a spouses shirt themselves and make Halloween costumes for their kids. Pregnancy has led me to desire the craft gene. I think it's primarily b/c I've seen the newborn clothes out there and folks someone needs to protest! I had to put my foot down. Pinks & flowers & pastels (lord the pastels) it had to be stopped and I'm unwilling to pay a fortune for my girly to be cute.
All this frustration toward attire reminded me of Amanda from freshman year in high school. We were in homeroom and it was a private h.s. so there was a dress code and as far as shorts went they had to be uniform. Poor Amanda. She was new and it was her first day. No one told her that even though you "could" wear the uniform shorts it was social suicide if you did wear them. She stood there like a deer in the headlights as our homeroom teacher explained the "shorts" option and cracked a joke about how no one wears "those ugly things". Yes there she was: new, awkward, and in ugly polyester shorts.
14 years later and here I am standing in the newborn section and equating my daughter in these onesies to Amanda and her uniform shorts. So I decided I couldn't do it. Nope just because my daughter is new to the world doesn't mean she should be subjected to such humiliation. I had to do something and I did. I put on my "non" crafty hat and made my own onesies!!! YES I MADE SOMETHING (other than a kiddo). Now obviously popularity is not the priority trait I want to teach my newborn nor is there any level of social acceptability I want to limit her to but if she does ever come home thinking polyester uniform shorts, black belt, & a mickey shirt are a good idea I'll know it's not b/c I started her out in pastel onesies. Below is some of the proof :

TRUE OR FALSE

Tonight we played cranium (guys vs. girls). If you have never heard of cranium then I'm guessing you don't drink starbucks coffee either. This is pretty much every good game smashed together and then placed on crack. It's a must own in every game closet (b/c that's where games go...the closet). Anywho there was what "some" would consider a pivotal question here it is, let's see what you think;
A typical pencil contains enough graphite to draw a line 35 miles long.
True or False?
Online Heaven!!!

With the holidays in full force I thought I'd mention this nifty little website. I know, I know. Most of us deep down inside have every intention of not succuming to the vortex of American consumerism during this month of December. However, if for some reason you do find yourself standing in some miserable line, purchasing something that is overpriced, with an older man behind you hacking up his lung directly at the back of your head just remember I offered an alternative...myregistry.com is a site where you can create a "wish list" of sorts for all different reasons and occasions (not just christmas). Tell your friends and family about it. I have started my own and love it. No more fake smiles and nods of appreciation when my birthday roles around. You can use this site as a registry for weddings, babies, birthdays, anydays, holidays, just because days... you get the picture. Check it out!
Chuck Norris Approved.

I don't know about you but if Chuck Norris endorses a candidate I view that as highly persuasive!!! "Mike Huckabee is Chuck Norris approved!" (sarcasm intended)
Heroes
10/02/2007
I'm a fan, actually I'm more like an addict when it comes to Heroes. Come on, how can you not be. There are 20 different plot lines going at once and the main characters can fly, become invisible, pass through walls, stop time, and read your thoughts. If one actor's lack of acting bugs you...no worries there's several others to watch. I've concluded after watching the last season of Heroes that I want a super power! What super power would I have?! hmm...lets see. I'm a tad bit obsessive compulsive and I like organization and cleanliness. If I could I would love to point my finger and have a never used, clean, fully sanitized & stocked restroom available regardless of my location. Oh the joy of going to an amusement park and never worrying about what's behind the door. Imagine all those poor people suffering from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or food poisoning that I could help! Yes, of all the powers I could have this may top them all for me. I may be odd but you try cleaning 3 toilets on a regular basis. So that's the power I would want what about you? What power would you want and why?
He Won
9/23/2007As I have admitted before I occasionally enjoy Peoples Magazine. As I was catching up on my celebrity dirt (pretending that I don't have 20 other things to do) I found out that Salma Hayek had a baby.
I truly don't care about Hayeks' ongoings and I really would never conceive of blogging about Salma, only I saw a picture of her and her "baby's daddy". There's this neat little game Dave & I started playing when we were dating. When we waited for a movie or shopped at the mall we found this little game helped pass the time and was entertaining. We would spy a couple and vote on "who won". It's based solely on attributes that are considered socially attractive (ex. appearance, clothing, car...) cruel I know. So you see a gal who you would say was a 7 on the socially attractive scale and then their significant other is off the charts. Well...she won. I know it's mean and judgemental but when you're 19 it's hugely entertaining (that's my disclaimer). Oh and admit it some of you have done it too. Back to the purpose of all this disclosure and workings of a 19 yr. old mind. I found myself playing this game again today with Salma and Francois-Henri Pinault (baby daddy). He Won!
